About the Samb

Hey there, I'm Samb!

I need to remember to add pictures to this page!!

Who am I?

I'm a 28 year old dude living in central Texas.
Yeah, that's really kind of it. You can probably stop reading here if you want.

My job

I work at a big box store as a loosely titled "Kitchen Designer."
It's not as cool as it sounds, but it is fun and I have so much free time that I'm writing this at work!
I design kitchens, and then sell cabinets for the price of one or two new cars and get paid... Not as well as you would think!

The kitchen designer thing is why I have opinions on kitchens, cabinets, appliances and more.
This is an extremely niche thing, but at least it's unique I guess, haha.

My hobbies

Games

For the games side of things, I really am into fighting games right now.

Allow me to preface this with... I'm absolutely the worst at fighting games.
I suck so bad, it's crazy! And yet, I love them.

There's so much fun in picking up a game and knowing absolutely nothing about what to do as the other person tanks my life bar.
Then you get the growth! The personal achievement of seeing yourself beat people you lost to before!
And you get the other person! Another human, growing and changing as you play against them!

There are emotions that I've only felt by playing these games!
I will definitely be talking about these more in the future, so look for that.

I also play other games, of course.
You can consider me a big fan of the Ace Attorney franchise, older stuff like SNES/N64/Gamecube stuff, Animal Crossing, and more.
Lately, my big gaming thing has been Mario Party.
I've got a CRT TV set up in my room hooked up to my PC so I can emulate older games, with the original controllers.
This means I've been playing tons of Mario Party 2 and some DK64.

Origin of "Samb"

I used to go to Smash tournaments and needed a handle for those.
Originally, I used Sammy G. Keep it simple... Ya know?
Turns out, there's a decent K. Rool player from Ontario named SammyG already!!
So I wanted to change it up, and just switched the G to a B, and then I was SammyB.

After that, eventually I just kind of slid off the "my" from the name, and lowercased the "B" to make it Samb.
Like "lamb," but more "sam."
I like it as Samb. It's simple, unique, and genuinely still just my name when someone says it, so I don't feel weird going by something I only kind of identify with.
