Year of the dragon edition! A nice cover of the characters in dragon outfits!

This week had every series plus two oneshots.
There was a special oneshot for Mashle and another which is an original co-made by the author of Promised Neverland and a seemingly newer artist, Kubigeshou.

I will sadly not be talking about Kubigeshou at this time, since it wasn't officially translated and I can't seem to locate a fan scan.

When I do read it, I'll talk about it then.

Let's start this list out right. There isn't a strong order to this, but I'm going to try and put it close to the order I liked them in, starting with the most liked.
Also! Be wary of spoilers! I will not be censoring things, so click at your risk!
One Piece Chapter 1103

Wow, okay, to just say this chapter was amazing is an understatement!
This chapter was a really cool almost climax to the current arc! Seeing Kuma show up was something I didn't expect, but it's SO good!

A panel from One Piece with Kizaru laying down thinking about Sentomaru and Bonney

I really have been enjoying this current arc, the flashbacks for Kuma and Bonney's past has been so sad and so well done, and it's given us a really good idea of why the celestial dragons are so evil. We've known for a while, but it feels even more real seeing how Saturn just completely ruined the lives of Kuma and his family.

I also really like Kizaru just down and out, but still reacting to what is happening.

Seeing Kuma charge in, Dragon predicting it, Bonney using Luffy's powers unknowingly, mmm!

The climax of this chapter was so well drawn too! Definitely a memorable moment for the ages.

I can't wait for the next chapter. This one was phenomenal, and I don't see next week being anything less as well.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 248 Sukuna saying Higuruma's name as both Yuji and Higuruma look shocked

This chapter was also a really cool almost climactic one.

It's still the fight against Sukuna, but with Higuruma as the lead.

Higuruma is such a neat character and seeing Sukuna repeat his name, showcasing Sukuna's acknowledgment of his ability, was such a nice moment.

And Higuruma uses Reverse Cursed Technique to heal first try! He's so cool!

All that said though, he's not the main character... I'll miss you, Higuruma... But the chapter ends in such a cliffhanger!

Itadori has the Golden Gun Executioner's Sword from Higuruma and he's about to hit Sukuna! AhH! What's going to happen??

Sakamoto Days Chapter 150 A page from Sakamoto Days Chapter 150 where a man is being pulled through a wall

Oh, the big 150, and it's good! Oh goodness, this was a great chapter!

The art in this one reminds me of some of Togashi's stuff, and it made me almost lament that this series is grounded in reality and not something closer to a world like the one of Hunter x Hunter.

All of the characters in this chapter are really well drawn, and the fight is so well coreographed!!

The use of walls in this chapter was so well done, I especially liked the guy being pulled through a wall to start off a fight.

It's exciting, and so cool!! I want the next chapter right now! Agh!

Genuinely, I really am excited to see the next chapter, and not even for a cliffhanger reason. It was just that good this week!

Akane-banashi Chapter 93 Akane saying she has more potential

This series is so so SO good.

I tend to forget that, but then I read a new chapter and I'm hit with a wonderful reminder!

This chapter was no exception, Akane really shined. It starts out with her being a bundle of passion and energy!

I especially love her choosing music from the 1980s at karaoke, it's so on brand.

I also really like seeing her struggle to have another breakthrough. It's a nice representation of a creative struggle.

Also! The chapter ends teasing us with more information about the original plotline! I'm excited!

Blue Box Chapter 132 Chinatsu looking broken

This series is really good, and I liked that the current arc is focused on Chinatsu, but I really think the arc has overstayed it's welcome.

I want to see it go back to how it was before this arc, but that's not to say I haven't enjoyed it overall.

The artwork in this chapter was really good too! I really liked the panel of Chinatsu being told she has to move.
That panel, and actually the whole page, is super good!!

Undead Unluck Chapter 190

I really like Julia! Her being the reborn version of Juiz, her energy, her bullheadedness!

It's so good, and it's great to see Fuuko get pushed around again for the first time in ages!

A panel showing what was just mentioned

Fuuko has grown so that it's easy to forget she wasn't always like this.
Julia's usage of the unluck really shows you it's still Juiz in the end, and now...

Next chapter, we go to Brazil!!

Kill Blue Chapter 36 A panel of Noren being a dork

This series is funny.
I don't super like the surfer girl, because of how she changes the perspective of the world and how that should lessen the impact of the MC changing form,

But I like how this arc has made Noren flesh out a bit more. She's kind of a dork, and I like that.

I am excited to see where this is going.

Mission: Yozakura Family Chapter 209

Well, this sure is an arc.

Kyoichiro Joe

I liked the series way more before the timeskip, but it hasn't changed too much.
The kids are just way less interesting to me.

Luckily, they split them up and this chapter uses Kyoichiro and Futaba in a fun way.

I don't really like Hifumi a whole lot, but she was really comedic this chapter.
Her blatant disgust for her uncle is so funny, and her making him act like Taiyo was great!
I loved seeing him ash white, a la Ashita no Joe.

This was a nice chapter, and I really hope it stays this good.

Kagurabachi Chapter 16
The two face off

This chapter was really cool. The fight was really well done and a great way to set up the fight between the MC and the bad dude. I am not learning his name.

Also, the two page spread is really nice. I still can't get over the faces for the MC and the bad dude, and it still had me saying "oooh"

I am excited for the next chapter!

MamaYuYu Chapter 17 A full page that I describe further down

This chapter surpised me.
It was overall okay, but it does do something I don't like.

I really like how much the MC has grown, he's becoming someone that I can actually enjoy seeing.

That being said, there still isn't a goal and we've still got a really weak villain design.

So far, Minerva was my favorite character, but it looks like we're using her to actually move plot along.

Up until now, the series has been "fight because it literally just happened" multiple times, but now we have a reason to actively fight the enemy.

I really liked the kiss too! The following panels were so good!
The followup kiss! Minerva's smile! Elysia and Grisha both panicking!
And seeing Grisha still caught off guard as Minerva goes to leave... Good stuff!

I actually moved this chapter further up the list after looking at that page more!

It made me want to add pictures to each of these, just because I wanted this one to have it!
I'm glad I went back to look at it again.

Fun chapter, I really hope this series survives...

Elusive Samurai Chapter 140 A panel of Kojiro looking cool

I'm not really a fan of this series. I don't know most of the characters names because of that, but I really think this was a decent chapter!

It starts off pretty cool, seeing Kojiro just slaughter a man in a really dope fashion.

The lady from Planet Terror with the blade for a leg also has some really cool panels where she slaughters people.
It's pretty cool actually, I think I like her?

Not only that, but we see Tokiyuki actually showcase his leadership and growth. Even the enemy recognizes this!

Sweet chapter overall, I wish the series was more like this chapter.

Or that it gets axed. I really wouldn't mind too much, haha.

Martial Master Asumi Chapter 28 Nao winning a fight

I've been enjoying this series. It's not the best thing ever written, but it's more unique than I expected it to be.

It's pretty neat to see the story progress for both Nito and Nao, and I like the set up they've created for Nito's next fight.

To be the reason someone retires is a very real moment in sports, and they've amped it up by making the opponent so close to Nito's aspirations.

That said, I don't really know why they shaved the guys head... Seems weird to me, and I don't like it!

I think this has been a cool way for the series to progress, I just hope it doesn't get cancelled in the middle of it.

Shadow Eliminators Chapter 5 Kuromori Training

This series feels almost... classic? For lack of a better word.

I like both Kuromori and Asakaze so far, and this chapter was a nice "friendship born" kind of chapter.

Training chapters are really hard to mess up though.

I also really liked the art for this. It was refined, and utilized the panels in a really straightforward and simple way, which is something that you don't see from newer artists often.

I hope this series continues staying this decent, but it's still only chapter 5.
That means there is a lot of room to mess up!

Nue's Exorcist Chapter 33 Panels showing the two girls panic as they realize Gakuro is dumb

I am going to be upfront, since this is my first post about these chapters...
I don't like this series.

I say that, but this chapter was actually pretty good.

The introduction of the sister a while ago was something I think the series needed.
She helps add a serious tone, where the other characters are lacking.

The panels where Gakuro is using the Tengu's power to locate them was really well done.
The overall artwork is still too stiff for my liking, but it's getting looser with time.

Also, the ending was funny to me. There's actual plot going on, and now the group is split.

Now they have to each fight to meet back up, and everyone thinks Gakuro is stupid for it!

This might be a fun arc, who knows.

Witch Watch Chapter 139 A full page that I describe further down

So this chapter is weird.

It's always weird, but this one is a topical reference to a game called "Suika Game"

This is a real game in real life that is being parodied as... "Su-Ika Game"
Yeah. Really.

The whole chapter revolves around Morihito getting addicted to this game and neglecting everything else.

Morihito is an obsessive type, this has been shown a lot, but this one is almost too much of an obsession that it's a reach.
I haven't seen people playing this game in over a month because it isn't as addictive as any better puzzle game, like Tetris.

I didn't really have any issues with this chapter, but it felt like a waste?
It definitely had some good jokes, though.

I really liked Morihito giving up and asking Keigo for help,
and Keigo genuinely looks like he's desperate to help!

Not a bad chapter... Just a weird one.

Two on Ice Chapter 15

Oh, the current rival shows his face finally!

This series really was missing something, and I hope this character is the missing piece.

He probably won't be though, I don't find myself a big fan of him.
The part where he shows up as it describes the definition of "vocation" and it has "GOD" written next to him is so silly.

A full page that I described just now

Really, this is a real panel. Whew.

I did like how the MC wasn't intimidated at all and just immediately jumps in going "How do you do it???" was great.

I'm really hoping it picks up, because I want this series to survive. (it won't)

My Hero Academia Chapter 411

How is this still going on?

This is chapter 411! How did we let it get this far?? Deku looking at Mt Fuji

I was enjoying the fight with Bakugo, but I am way less interested in the fight with Deku and Tomura.

I don't like his idea of saving Tomura. It's insane!
Even in story it feels like Deku should understand that the best way to win this is by just ending him!!

He has ZERO redeemable features that Deku would have seen, like come on!
Sure, we saw his backstory, which is tragic enough for sure,
but why does Deku have it in his head that he has to save him!

He's one of the least redeemable villains ever written! What the heck!

Whatever, moving on.
The best thing about this chapter was seeing Tomura just... take? the previous owners of OFA.
I liked that.

I really don't think this series will go on for much longer, it really feels this is the last thread that needs tying.
I could be wrong though, I said this over a year ago and here we are, haha.

I just want this series to have a good ending. It deserves it.

Green Green Greens Chapter 6

What weird series... I like it? Sometimes?

There is definitely something going on, and I like sports stuff normally, but it has to speed it up.

The MC being really good naturally is really cool and Shonen-y, but I don't see this surviving.
There's just no meat yet, and we're 6 chapters in.

MC saying stuff

This chapter was also kind of a nothing. It showed the MC being naturally made for golf, and it showed the girl actually likes him enough to show him what to do...
But it wasn't exciting or anything.

If Robot × LaserBeam couldn't survive, I really don't see this one lasting.
Sorry :(

Me & Roboco Chapter 168 Two characters reading their fortunes, Hugh Jazz is mentioned.

Eugh...

This chapter was a miss for me. Easily.
I really genuinely do like this series, and most chapters are a hit, but not this week!

This week is about Roboco getting new years fortunes?? and messing with them??

It wasn't funny, it didn't translate super well (not the problem of the translators!!) and just was a miss all around.

Well, you have some of those sometimes. Hopefully next week is better.

Cipher Academy

I uh... I didn't read this one this week.
Or last week. Or the week before that...

I honestly haven't read this one in about half a year.

Maybe I'll catch up this week... Maybe not though, I don't like this one.

Special Oneshot - Mashle: Magic and Muscles! Mash Flapping like a hummingbird to hold up a rock

I wasn't the biggest fan of Mashle.
Correction, I really didn't like it until the last like half a year of chapters.

Still, it grew on me a bit, and this special chapter was fun.
It's cool to see Mash still not be respected, even though he saved the world???

Nonesense, sure, but I still think it's funny.

This chapter is about the grandson of the Headmaster, who I think they didn't name?

This kid only does magic about clothespins, and doesn't want to do magic anymore.

This results in him going to the school where his grandfather is in charge.
The idea is, he'll see good magic use and get inspired.

In comes Mash, where he's working out and every lesson ends with him being the best at it, despite the obvious shortcomings of him not having magic.

It's just a fun little chapter, and ends with Mash and the kid fighting a dragon.

It was cute, and if you liked Mashle then it's just more of that.

You should read it, it's free on the Shonen Jump app or on Manga+.
